Carl Block (continued)

Carl has a quick and easy-to-remember recipe for making salsa with ingredients that come out of his garden. "Have you ever seen the Mexican flag?" asks Carl. "There you go. Onions are white, you got your green with jalapeños and cilantro, and red tomatoes. I also put in lime juice. I learned that from a Mexican friend."

Yost House from JFC

We found Carl and his wife Kimberlee while we were gawking at their house. Their home was used as the Yost family house in the HBO series "John From Cincinnati." Kimberlee is very friendly and she saw us. She waved us over and after a brief chat told us her husband Carl loved to cook. Next thing we knew we were invited over. "They shot Luke Perry or whoever coming in and out of the house. This was the kitchen for the show," says Kimberlee motioning around her living room. "The rest of the interior of the house was built up near Los Angeles." "Obviously they can't film the streets and all of the other stuff there," says Carl, "so they shot that here." "We got to meet them all from the show," continues Kimberlee. "Ed O'Neill is a very sweet guy."

Carl and Kim with Bruce Greenwood

"We would get a call the day before they wanted to shoot and we had to vacate the house by 5:00 am," says Carl. Their house would be transformed into the Yost house and then back by evening. All they left was the curtains made from dishtowels that the couple decided to keep. The production crew also built a clubhouse in the backyard but it was not up to building codes so no clubhouse for Carl. Fortunately through all this they did not disturb Carl and Kimberlee's garden.
